everyone else is doing it
watch me get my FREAK on:
7 weird things about me:
1. after years of struggling with pretty frequent insomnia, i now have very little trouble falling asleep. i sleep very soundly now and i never wake up in the middle of the night. in fact i have slept through fire alarms (not just in my apartment, but all 5 stories of my building going off at once). i have also slept through people trying to get me to take them to the hospital, only to wake in the morning and wonder where they had gone.
i'm a sleep-talker too. people can ask me all kinds of questions and i will answer them, not remembering any of it in the morning. i've also been known to say weird things like "why don't you take a picture, it'll last longer" or just verbally abuse the person trying to wake me. again, i never remember any of it.
2. i hate raisins. hatehatehate them. i think they can ruin anything, and no, i cannot just "pick them out".
3. people never recognize me. i've changed the way i look so many times over the years that i usually have to remind people. i usually say "hey, it's me melissa, from suchandsuchaplace, i used to be bald/blonde/straight/wear glasses" etc.
4. i do not own a scale or a full length mirror, and it's been close to 10 years since i have. i have a way better body image if i'm unable to scrutinize it every other minute. i do pull a small mirror off the wall every now and again, just to make sure i'm not making a total ass of myself though.
5. i am extremely sensitive to noise. other people's loud music or unnecessarily loud talkers can bring me to tears. really. i'm also constantly adjusting the volume on the television until it's so low that you can just make out what people are saying. the funny thing is, when i'm in my car i listen to music so loud that i eventually blow a speaker or two, so i guess i'm just a freak.
6. i think red shoes go with everything. i think about fifty-percent of the shoes i own are red.
7. i am a procrastinator of the worst kind. for example, i received a summons for jury duty, i don't know, maybe months ago. never responded. 2nd notice. never responded. 3rd notice, which basically said 'wtf! are you coming or not!' never responded. jury duty is tomorrow. today i was on hold forfreakingever just so i could confirm that i'll be there tomorrow. oh yeah and my living room has been half painted for months. i'm ridiculous.
if i haven't scared you away forever, check back soon for possibly two (2!) finished objects.

Those are great! Really interesting insights about your self. I've been thinking of doing one of these for a while, and although I know I'm weird, I don't know if I could come up with 7 things interesting enough for people to read.

This list is tremendous. I laughed out loud at (and totally identified with) "hey, it's me, from suchandsuchaplace, i used to be bald/blonde/straight/wear glasses." Thanks for sharing your freakiness with us. :)

I just wrote my list last night and I could have added at least half of yours, too. It's always good to know you're not the only superfreak... I have been known to talk in my sleep, too, including a couple of full-on conversations in German when I lived in the dorm in college. I hate loud noise, too. My in-laws always have the TV on really loud and talk even louder. I wonder if they have hearing problems... meanwhile, I get a headache! :) And I have to agree, red shoes do go with just about everything. xo

I've read a lot of these lately, but this is probably the best list I've seen. I'm totally with you on the noise thing. I lost major sleep a couple of years ago when these toads started hanging out on our street and were doing their mating calls all night long. They were SO. LOUD. Seriously. I started to think I was going crazy because I couldn't sleep. No one else seemed that bothered by them. So maybe I am crazy... :)

Great list. I am totally with you on the raisins (who the heck thought of those?) and the red shoes.

I stumbled upon this....and love love love all of the projects and you! Okay, I don't love you, but I sure do enjoy your..typed...words...Okay, I do love you, I just tried to make everything less creepy.
Failure.

Yay--I love reading these! I too used to be an insomniac, but I sleep like a baby now. It comes back every once and a while, but not like it used to be. I also don't own a scale--I mean, why torture yourself like that?

I'm extremely sensitive to sound as well. When I was a child, I couldn't handle the sound of a vacuum cleaner or hand mixer. Or construction work. Still can't, actually. Like you, I can almost start crying if there's too much noise. :P
But the stereo?? Crank it up!

I thought i was the only one who says bizarre things while sleeping! Apparently I sing in my sleep as well... As far as the loud noises thing goes, I can't listen to loud anything, but I myself am one of the loudest people ever.
