finishing up

balticsock1.jpg

baltic sock #1 is officially finished, and i couldn't be happier this time. my first try didn't work out so well, largely due to the yarn i chose. this time i used bmfa socks that rock in the shaded solid "in the navy". instant love, i tell ya. i also knit the pattern toe up this time and i'm loving the leaf pattern going up the leg. swoon. the pattern is one that is easily memorized after only a few repeats, so i was knitting the bulk of the leg while watching pan's labyrinth (so good) and the 3rd season of the wire (shitbird!).

i've already started the toe of the second sock. miraculous, no? but i feel like i should take care of some unfinished business first. my arrowhead lace cardigan is only a half-sleeve away from being done. finally. i'm finishing up that sleeve right now, but i have some worries about the length of the body. it seems a little long for a light summery thing. this cardigan was supposed to be a little protection against the chill of air-conditioning that seems to bother me everywhere i go. i tend to wear 3-quarter length sleeve, slightly cropped cardigans around work and in restaurants throughout the summer. the problem is, i've knit this one with my usual length for sweaters, and with the shorter sleeves, it seems a little weird and less like something i would throw on everyday at work. i may adjust the length later today, but either way, this one is going to be finished this week. wish me luck!

don't forget to join the i made it with noro! flickr pool, i'm really enjoying looking at everyone's projects.

have a great sunday!

Your new sock looks great! A lovely match of yarn and pattern! I have been really curious about the bmfa shaded solids, did you use the lightweight for this project?

hehehe shitbird. that sock looks seriously awesome! shaded solids will always be my favorite for patterned socks.

Yay for the sock! It looks great, and I really like that color of the STR.

I can't wait to see you sweater all finished--I love all the progress shots on Flickr, and I hope you'll be writing up a pattern--I'd TOTALLY make it!

They look great! I might have to have a crack at them now :)

wow! that's gorgeous! the color of that yarn! must have! cannot buy more yarn! :/

Oooh, what a gorgeous sock! The semi-solids will be my salvation when it comes to bmfa--love the feel, hate the pooling. :)

Love that shade of blue, your sock is a really beaut!!

This sock is so pretty! I love the pattern in that rich blue yarn :)

And Pan's Labyrinth was pretty darn amazing, although it made me squirm in some parts... I bet you know which ones!

Beautiful!! I need to try out the BMFA shaded solids. Yum.

Just wanted to say I made your lace leaf shirt and I love it! It was a better summer knit than the barely there shirts at Knitty this summer. I also just got a bag of Noro! I was thinking of making the skirt from Knitty with it.....still in the swatching phase at this point. Thanks for the pattern! I posted pictures on my blog if you care to look.

Gor-geous sock. I am distinctly impressed.

The sock is fabulous! And I'm impressed that you can knit & watch The Wire at the same time. I've tried, but I get unhealthily wrapped up in The Wire. :)

That is one beautiful socks!! Thanks for the tip on the yarn!!!

I really love that sock pattern. yay for toe up socks! I am also very happy you have been infected with the disease that is sock making. come october, your little toes are going to be SO happy.

good luck on all the finishing!

The sock looks fantastic--I knew it would work out this go 'round once you started using STR. And I do like the toe-up version--I was already planning to make another pair of these, so I might do it that way next. And the arrowhead cardigan? You must release your secrets on that one.
