swallowtail shawl
it taunted me with it's p5togs, and briefly, i gave up. i'm back to say: i win! the swallowtail shawl is done!
pattern: swallowtail shawl by evelyn clark from the fall 2006 issue of interweave knits
yarn: misti baby alpaca lace, less than 1 skein in yellow
needles: not pointy enough inox 3.5mm circulars
although i am guilty of complaining about purling 5 together, overall, i really did enjoy knitting this shawl. the end result is really beautiful and i'm sure it'll get lots of wear. i purchased some Soak, in the sola, evening garden scent and now the shawl smells fantastic too, kinda like walking into a Lush shop.
i'm already thinking about starting another shawl, because i'd like to have another lace project on the needles. i'm thinking maybe the shetland triangle from wrap style. i already have the book, and i have a few yarns to choose from, i may just cast on this evening.
have a lovely sunday!

It looks great! The p5tog scares the heck out of me right now -- kudos for making it through.

So pretty! The yellow color you chose makes it contemporary and fresh. Good thing you stuck it out through those p5togs!

And mmm... Lush!

So pretty! I just bought some of this yarn at work (it's on sale for 40% off, how could I not?) and I was thinking about making a Swallowtail. Now I have to make one!

Looks great, and I love that yellow! It's such an under-utilized color. My LYS has it on sale right now, and I think I might just have to pick some up!

Beautiful! I'm so jealous of anyone who can wear yellow. :D

Just so you know we shared a brain today.
All day long I was thinking about knitting a lace shawl for a friend of mine who is getting married next June.
Her favorite color is yellow & I have been trying to picture how a yellow lace shawl might look and presto.
Yours is gorgeous and all the inspiration I need.
** I loooooooove your avatar. I collect shelf elfs ;)

looks great! p5tog? ugh, why?? :) i guess each shawl that's knit has to have something that needs to be conquered.

I love your Swallowtail. I have yet to make one but everytime I see a finished version, I dig my pattern and have another look at it!

What a perfect color! Marie from Brooklyn Handspun says that yellow sells very poorly (although all her yarns sell out, so I don't know if I believe her). But this FO should entice everyone to give yellow a try :)

p5tog's are no joke, but the result is so pretty! Great job!

Nice! I'm about halfway through mine, I'm making mine bigger. I guess this means I'll have more p5togs to worry about. Oh no...I'll need pointier needles.

That yellow is beautiful - and so is the shawl. Well done! You've really been on a tear with the FOs lately...

Oh, it's lovely! The yellow is sunny without being too bright. And good for you for slogging through all those p5tog's!

Melissa, it's beautiful!! I adore it in yellow (it gives it a fantastic vintage look).
Glad the P5tog's didn't give you too much trouble! I want to knit this one but not til I purchase some of the new addi lace needles!
At least I have yours for inspiration once again!
