noro socks

noro kureyon socks

only 20 days late, the girlfriend's 35th birthday socks are finally on her feet.

the details:
pattern: none. these are plain, 64 stitch, toe up socks with a short-row heel. i had to ask her to try them on constantly, because her feet are 3 sizes bigger than mine, and i was worried they wouldn't fit.
needles:us1, 2.25mm knitpicks circular for magic loop.
yarn: noro kureyon sock color 184
thoughts: well, the girlfriend likes them, and they fit her big feet perfectly, so overall i'm happy with the result. the yarn was good to work with for the most part. i've read many complaints about the roughness of the noro sock, but that's one of my favorite things about it. i love rough wool yarns. love them.
the yarn had some very thin parts, and in retrospect, i think i would have been better off using us0 needles. the yarn did plump up and soften a bit after washing, so they still look good. there was only 1 knot in the 3/4 of the skein i used, but it caused the pink and blue to repeat again and this kind of annoyed me. in the end, laziness won (it usually does), and i left it.
they're nice socks, and i'm a little jealous of them, but i probably won't be knitting another pair. there are too many great sock yarns i've yet to knit with.

noro kureyon socks 2

i have the rest of the week off from work because i finally had my annoying, impacted, wisdom tooth removed this morning. for the last few weeks the left side of my face has been swelling up, so i'm glad to be done with it. i was an ass from the moment i woke up this morning, mostly because i was petrified of the anesthesia, but it's all good now. poor girlfriend.
i spent the whole day on the couch, knitting, eating gelato, and napping (sometimes in the middle of these activities). tomorrow won't be much different, i'm guessing.

hope you recover soon! gelato always makes me feel better. :)

Pretty socks! I guess January is a good month to finish up projects for gfs!

And I hope you feel better soon! Just thank your gf that she didn't make you say funny things while you were hopped up on drugs and puffy and swollen...not that I did those things to mine. ;)

those look great - I really want to try the Noro sock yarn.

Sorry to hear about the wisdom tooth, but glad you are on the mend!

hope you feel better soon. its times like these when i realize work gets in the way of knitting! hapyy knittin...

Wow! Love the socks. I'll make a note to use size 0s for mine.
Hope you get well soon. I was told over 10 years ago that I had to get my wisdom teeth removed, but I chickened out...

Oooh, gorgeous!
I hope you feel better soon.

Those are just gorgeous!

Hey, the socks came out awesome! I'm really sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth, though. Ugh. Why did human mouths evolve to have such space issues.

Gelato is the antidote for dentistry. While I am jealous that you have knitting/couch time, I don't envy a wisdom tooth extraction. Get well soon!

(awesome socks, by the way!)

hey, i'm currently knitting the same pair of socks for a b-day present too. the same exact colorway and everything to boot.

they look great. i'm kinda really loving this noro sock yarn. i think once i'm done knitting these noro socks for my friend i'm going to have to buy more for myself. it's too pretty.

The colors on those socks are really gorgeous! Sorry to hear about the wisdom tooth, I know how horrible that can be, I had to have all four of mine pulled out a few years ago because they were really badly impacted. But it did give me an excuse to eat lots of sorbet!

Those socks look lovely--so colorful! I'm with you on the rough wooly yarns though--they're the best. I can't wait to give the Noro a try.

Hope you're feeling better. I guess this means you have some knitting time on the couch too (if you're not too drugged up), which rules.

Those socks are beautiful! Nice! I never thought of using Noro for socks before. I think I need to visit my LYS!

absolutely gorgeous socks! i'm very keen to try the noro sock yarn; i love the look of it and like you i don't mind a "woolier" sock yarn at all.

hope you are all better now! wisdom teeth suck.
