if you are sick of hats, turn back now
...for this is a hat-heavy blog post
i have been working away on my 2 sweaters in progress, but not without distraction. i've landed on sleeve island with my orangey pullover, the perfect time to cast on for some hats.
each one of these took little more than a day to knit, and i'm thrilled with how they've turned out. holy instant gratification!
first off, the girlfriend's february 13th hat, which is basically just a wooly apology for being a total valentine's day hater.
i originally intended to knit her the utopia cable hat in some charcoal cascade 220 , but i forgot the pattern at home shortly after starting the ribbing. i was forced to just come up with something else, or endure a meeting knit-less. she liked it and bought me vegetarian sushi, and all was right in the world.
next, i decided to wind up some malabrigo in the "paris night" colorway, and knit the utopia hat (ravelry) for myself. one day later, i had a perfect, warm hat. i highly recommend the pattern.
last, i chose to use up the leftover malabrigo for another hat. i had the blue from utopia, and about the same amount in olive, left over from a ganomy hat. i put them together and made this basic striped hat, with only a few inches to spare.
i'm happy to have a few more choices in head coverings this week, it's freezing here.
i really should get back to those sweaters now.

we can never get sick of you and your hats. you are the knit hat queen. and you (and the girlfriend) look so cute in all of them! :)
i've cast on for the utopia hat in malabrigo myself. total copycat, i know. anyhoo, i looove the pattern but i shouldn't have used a variegated colorway. the feel that the pretty cables get a tad lost. oh wells, good thing i order a whole bunch of malabrigo the other day so i can try again. ;)
btw, you should consider writing up a pattern for the "i hate v-day" hat. i really like the cables in it.

I never get sick of hats! Or socks. Beautiful hats! I like the choice of the dark grey/charcoal for the Utopia hat. And the striped hat is gorgeous! They all look so nice on you, too!

Sick of hats? Never yours. Plus, hats keep in 60% of the body's warmth, thus there has never been a worthier knitting investment. Loving all three of your gorgeous hats. x

They're all good, but oooh, that stripy one. I'm feeling a sudden, powerful urge for a striped hat.

Oh my gosh can we be hat buddies forever and ever? We can start a challenge for each other and see how many hats we can make and blog about them and send them to each other? Because I love your hats and I love me some hats.

Never tired of hats! Especially not your hats!
I love all three of these! This post just reinforces my idea to finish my Central Park Hoodie & then knit a bunch of hats, mittens and scarves.
Always the bellwether Melissa!! :)

I love all the hats! I do have some Malabrigo leftovers that I'd love to turn into a stripey hat. But mostly, I love the Utopia hat in that cool Paris Night colorway. Yummy.

I love the hats! I want to knit a hat very badly but my hair is usually too crazy for hats. I guess I could knit one for someone else but that's not as much fun. :)

Hooray for hats! Can any one person ever have too many hats!? LOL! That Utopia Hat has been on my radar for quite some time now. After seeing yours in that fabo colorway......yeah it is time to whip one of those up asap!

Wow. I've never been tempted by the utopia hat until I saw yours! Gorgeous!
I'm envious of all your new hats. I need to get to work, I think. :)

I have lost 2 hats in the past month, and all my other hats are in storage. I think your post has inspired me to knit a few...

I never tire of hats--especially when they're made of cushy Malabrigo!

Sick of hats?! How can one get sick of hats? They all look great! I've been wanting to make a bunch of simple hats recently, but I just don't have single skeins of yarn in my stash for it. Hmm. Guess I'll have to order some yarn!

This is where I come to get me some hat mojo! Don't stop with the hats! I knit the Utopia Hat as a Christmas gift and I also found it to be a perfect hat and a very satisfying knit.
