new favorite
i've been carrying around this project in my tote bag for the last month, knitting a few rows here and there. yesterday's sudden cold snap had me powering through the last few inches.
the yarn, sock hop, really is as great as everyone claims. i wish i had more, but i refused to let myself buy some at the last sale. i hadn't finished this pair yet, and all my money was going to my mechanic anyway. where's my medal?
these socks were knit over 58 stitches on a us1 circular, toe-up (my favorite), with a figure 8 cast-on and short-row heel . i thought plain old stockinette was the way to go. the yarn is so pretty, it doesn't really need a pattern. i could have probably gone close to knee-high with these, but i thought i'd wear them more if i stuck with my standard height. i'm especially happy with the colors. this colorway, called "i feel free", is a combination of my favorite blues and greens. these have officially become my new favorite socks.
happy monday, folks!

Those really do look snazzy!I agree that the stockinette works well. I'm struggling to finish my 2nd "Pomatomus" sock....doesn't help that it was 97 degrees here yesterday!

Hey, those are my favorite blues and greens, too! I should get some of that yarn (although your lament about the car mechanic hits a little too close to home!).

They're so cute! I'm loving the idea of handspun yarn for socks--so wonderful and crafty. Note so self: buy this yarn.

Such great color! The socks look fantastic. One of these days I'm going to have to get my hands on some Sock Hop.

oh wow, that yarn really looks dreamy. it knits up great! i def have to get my mitts on some of that stuff soon.
and you're right about the knee highs. while they look cute and garner a lot of nice attention, you don't nearly get enough use outta them for all the work you put into knitting them. i think i've worn my knee high sock, like, twice since i finished them sometime last year. so good call. :)

GORGEOUS!!!!! I am getting ready to try my hand at sock knitting but am struggling to find a good fiber blend that has cotton or bamboo or both.
I hope I can find one with such gorgeous colorways.
