here we go

there's a chill in the air. that must mean it's time to knit more hats.

i cast on for this one a few days ago as a break from other projects, then picked it up again during last night's vice presidential debate. the hat knitting proved to be much more fun. if i never hear the word "maverick" again, i will be a very happy lady.

today, i attempted to capture the sheer love i have for this super cute hat. i failed.

so, i accepted help. oh look, there's my pretty hat!

starfish hat

pattern: duchess starfish hat by cecily glowik (ravelry link)
yarn: araucania nature wool chunky, less than 1 hank in color 137
i knit the pattern exactly as written, which i never do, because it was perfect.

i've been on this never-ending mission to knit through all the random balls of yarn i've accumulated over the years. this was the perfect little project. this hat has been firmly planted on my head all day. i love it.

i have several things on the needles, but this one has been going to work with me lately. it's the drop collar cabled jacket from that new debbie bliss knitting magazine. it's a bulky cabled thing, not what i'd normally cast on for, but i just felt compelled to knit it for some reason. i've added some length, changed the numbers to knit between 2 sizes, and now i'm thinking about messing with the collar. it looks cute in the photo, but it'll probably look weird on me. i don't know, i just have a feeling.

it's actually nice to knit something in pieces for a change. i can fit whatever part i'm working on in my bag and haul it around with me. i'm sure i'll feel differently once i start seaming it up. well, i'm only about 20% into it'll, so i'll save that worry for a later date.

That hat is awesome - yay for slouchy hats! I think that will be added to my queue. Also, love the yarn for the jacket - it's really beautiful.

Super cute hat, in a great color! I think the DB sweater is knitting up beautifully. What a nice, tweedy green.

The hat is great -- I love the color! The sweater is looking awesome, too. Yay for fall and tweed!

Cute!! I love it! Great fit and pattern (and color). I agree, I'm tired of "maverick" too...and anyway it's something McCain certainly is not, so stop saying it!

Very cute hat! I'm in the mood for slouchy too. Or maybe I'll be maverick and knit something fitted. Oh, I think I'll ust flip flop about it.

Oh I love this hat, so rustic looking! I'm queuing it as well.

I love your hat, and I think the sweater will be great! I agree with you on the maverick issue :)

I think I might love the cabled cardi. The yarn is fantastic. I hope you don't think it looks weird on you when you're done!

Oh I like the hat - the pattern looks a bit like anchors. I'm queuing it too. The green is a great color for the cabley sweater - it's going to be great for the fall!

I totally agree about the M word...it makes me want to gnash my teeth! The hat is adorable and that sweater is going to kick butt. I love that color of green.

you can never have too many hats. i've started 3 since sunday!

great blog btw. just found you. and wow, do you have some fab sweaters. hope to see them available someday.

love the hat, love the jacket, too! awesome stuff, thanks for sharing, i'm so glad i stopped by to see what lovelies you've knitted up.

The hat is great! I added to my fav's and then printed it out! Might be my project for this week!
