new pattern: skinner hat
very recently, a package of beautiful yarn from the plucky knitter arrived on my doorstep. after i finished squealing with joy from all the pretty, i was immediately struck with ideas for a bunch of new designs. this is the first.
the skinner hat is an extra-long fitted lace hat. the extra length allows it to be worn slouched back on the head, or pulled way down over the ears for extra warmth. knit in a fingering-weight (sock) yarn, it's light enough that it doesn't get overwhelmingly hot, but is still warm. if you're like me and love sock yarn, but don't love knitting socks, it's a great use for luxury hand-dyed skeins like primo. the decreases are done in the leaf pattern, but at a faster rate than my other designs, resulting in a fun little pucker of leaves at the very top.

Gorgeous hat! Just wanted to add that I just picked up New England Knits, and it's one of those rare knitting books where I actually love every single design in it. Every sweater is something I would design for myself, and I will likely knit everything in it. Fabulous work!
